As I wrote my genre analysis, I thought so much about the many different questions that I would be able to answer for my own knowledge, and maybe even for the sake of teaching other people about this topic. For this assignment, I chose to concentrate on the Importance of the rights for the Gay and Transgender communities. The reason that I chose this is because every time that I hear about people protesting for a certain cause, they are concentrating in either the Gay, Lesbian or bisexual communities, and many times we tend to leave the Transgender group out. In this case, I wondered whether all of the LGBT communities would have the same rights and if people who are in the transgender community struggle more in their daily lives than people in the other communities. I think that this topic is extremely important because many people are not well educated and they think that just because they are transgender they do not have rights and that they can discriminate them since many people believe that there are no laws protecting them. Thanks to this research that I obtained, I learned that there are a few laws that protect the transgender community, as well as the Gay, lesbian and bisexual communities from discrimination or assault, unfortunately, these laws have not yet been passed in all of the 50 states. Not only that but these basic rights are ignored simply because of gender discrimination. 
With the help of this assignment, I was able to learn a lot about what a Genre Analysis is. At first, I was very confused, even when I approached the assignment which then eventually turned my paper into a Research Paper. At first, I thought that this assignment was supposed to be all about researching a certain topic to simply help inform other people, and then I realized that a genre analysis is basically just a new approach to discourse and text analysis. Nonetheless, I think that this assignment was helpful in one way or another, at least personally. I was able to learn about the transgender community and their rights, and I also got the opportunity to practice and improve my writing.  If I could re-do this assignment, I would try to improve it by revising it better, not only that, but I think I could definitely work on expanding my ideas more. I think that making an actual table with different points that I could include in my paper would be truly helpful. If I had taken this approach, I would have had many more ideas of what to write about in this paper and I would have probably obtained more information.
