Having the ability to create a literacy narrative was something that truly impacted me during the beginning of my career. As I figured out what to write for this narrative, I thought about the things that have impacted me the most, then I thought about different events in my life. This narrative has helped me learn things about myself that I did not notice were so impacting in my life until now. As I was growing up, my life was not all that easy and I realized how lucky I am to be here accomplishing my dreams like any other person can. I am a true believer that anyone can accomplish anything if their mind is set to it. Writing this paper was something that took a lot out of me, since not many people know about my childhood. I think that I truly put all of me in this paper and I feel like I embraced my past. I learned things from this assignment that I would never think I would. I learned that people are comprehensive and that it is not the same as elementary school, with all the bullying and hatred; its normal and people won’t judge you if you have done nothing wrong. This assignment truly made me realize many things, but one thing that it made me realize the most is that you never stop finding new things about yourself. Sometimes we may not think about something we have been through or we may not see it from different perspectives, but we may need to do that every now and then. When I wrote this narrative, I realized that I have been through so much, and that any obstacle that comes my way can be pushed aside.
One of the readings that truly helped me in the completion of this assignment was that of Sherman Alexie. His story was something that I felt as if I could relate to, and thanks to his overview of his childhood I was able to feel comfortable when talking about mine. His article was something that truly impacted me since and carefully guided me to figure out how I wanted to write my paper. I personally think that I did well in this assignment because I not only learned more about writers such as Sherman Alexie, but I also learned more about myself. One thing that I concentrated a lot during this assignment, was in the order of events. I paid so much attention to the order in which everything in my life happened and noticed how each event shaped me into the person I am today. Looking back at this assignment, I was not able to find any grammatical errors, so this makes me think that my revision process was effective for this assignment.
